We followed the instructions from http://ipodlinux.org/5g#Mac_Instructions First we formatted the filesystem to HFS (mac filesystem), then we installed via the instructions on the ipodlinux tutorial. Straght forward, worked with no problems. Before formatting it HFS, we tried and got the apple.com/support/ipod error. But we were trying with a mac. I didn't bother trying one of the windows methods cause it worked so well on the mac. Since I use my iTunes on a windows box, I had to get xPlay (used to be xPod) to read the HFS system and continue using the apple interface with my PC (since it now is a mac iPod. xPlay works great, by the way. It configured my iTunes to handle Mac and Windows formatted iPods so it can still update my nano. Also, I can view HFS filesystems with it, which is letting me install the nintendo emulator (http://ipodlinux.org/INES) easily. I'll let you know how that turns out. I've got 800 roms so I'll be able to test a few. The song in the background is Ladytron, "destroy everything you touch".
